Ancient Warfare
Ancient Warfare channels turbulent emotions into cinematic soundscapes. The brainchild of Echo Woxihara while studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design, the band has evolved since Echo returned to Kentucky and enlisted seasoned collaborators. Pitchfork magazine wrote of the 2015 album, The Pale Horse: “Their debut is coolly understated and compelling, a vision of America laying somewhere between concrete and dreamscape and containing echoes of numerous previous decades.”
In 2011, Echo recruited the Ancient Warfare multi-instrumentalist Emily Woxihara (Chico Fellini, Killer Meteor, Jim James). Their creative bond evolved into marriage in 2018, and they have remained the primary force behind Ancient Warfare. Derek Rhineheimer (Oh My Me) has been a member since 2014.
